The International Fibre Centre released a new funding strategy in June 2008 designed to secure the future of Victoria’s textiles and fibre industry.
Created after extensive industry consultation, the funding program provides the base for the industry to grow sustainable, long-term business through new and emerging applications for fibres and textiles as well as building on the strengths of traditional industries.
The $1.2 billion industry is an important part of Victoria’s economic and social fabric and is well placed to expand its presence in local, national and international markets.
IFC believes that fostering sustainable and long-term competitiveness depends on continuing to develop workplace skills and capabilities at all levels.
IFC is actively working with the textiles and fibre industry to capture the education, skills and training opportunities demanded of its traditional and new and emerging product sectors.
